Description
The trail takes place entirely on a mountain path with very few elevation changes. The itinerary will then take you to the wide viewpoint, from which you can enjoy an exceptional view. Right after lunch, taken as a picnic, we will return along the same path back to the starting point.
Monte tre Pizzi is one of the countless wonders of Aspromonte. The impressive rock formation, with its characteristic shape of 3 rounded peaks, offers a unique landscape. The very road to reach the top is a constellation of moments of great awe for the eyes and the mind. But beauty, as always, doesn't stop only at the panorama. Monte tre Pizzi is a site of community importance, where the floral, faunal, and geomorphological presences are rare, unique, and important to defend. At its summit, you will find the ruins of an ancient place of worship that transform the landscape into a truly mystical vision, making us reflect on why monks always chose places whose beauty takes your breath away: it is undeniable that it holds the deep meaning of transferring to the soul much more than the simple isolation of prayer, but a true nourishment for the spirit.
The mountain is also the subject of countless legends. One of these tells that Jesus and the Apostles were walking along the river “'a Principissa” when, suddenly, Saint Peter began to complain about not having a monument in his honor. Struck by a sudden idea, he grabbed a stone from the riverbank and threw it high: the stone then gave rise to the rock.
