Description

The Ciaspolata in the Piani di Ruggio is an immersive winter experience in the heart of the Pollino National Park, designed for those who wish to experience the snowy mountains in a relaxed and contemplative way.

The trail presents no particular difficulties and develops mainly on flat paths. The departure takes place from a wide completely snow-covered clearing, which immediately introduces one to a silent and muffled environment. From here, one enters the beech forest, which in winter, bare of leaves, creates captivating plays of light and shadow.

Continuing, the path leads to the Malvento belvedere, where, among spectacular rocky outcrops, one encounters the characteristic Loricati Pines, a symbol of the Pollino. During the excursion, one also gets to know one of the monumental trees of the Park, a living testament to the strength and longevity of this ecosystem.

Returning is done through paths that gently wind between clearings, forests, and mountain slopes, offering always different views and a strong sensation of immersion in the winter nature.
At the end of the excursion, to conclude authentically, there is the possibility to taste the traditional “a sciurbetta” granita, tied to local culture.
The snowshoes are provided by the organization, making the experience accessible even for those approaching this activity for the first time.
