What will you do

Not just a simple tasting in the cellar, but a journey through archaeology, art and wine to discover how wine was already being produced in Calabria in Roman times. Accompanied by an archaeologist, you will visit a cellar-museum where amphorae, exhibited works and aging techniques tell a different way of understanding wine: not only through taste, but through the history it preserves.

Start experience

The experience begins in the spaces of the winery-museum in the province of Cosenza, where an archaeologist will introduce the origins of wine in Calabria and the ancient amphora winemaking techniques already used in Roman times.

Key moment

You will visit the aging area, the amphora room and the winery's exhibition spaces to understand how terracotta, micro-oxygenation and time influence the wine. This will be followed by a guided tasting of 4 labels — from the orange wine Elektron to the rare Castiglione grape variety, and finally wines aged in amphora — accompanied by local typical products.

Return

The experience concludes with a new way of understanding Calabrian wine: learning to connect colors, aromas, and structure to its history, production techniques, and the grape varieties that make this tradition unique.

A unique discovery of its kind

A truly unique and fascinating experience! Visiting a cellar-museum accompanied by an archaeologist allowed us to discover the history of wine in Calabria through a journey that starts in antiquity and reaches the modern reinterpretations of traditional techniques. The most interesting moment was undoubtedly the tasting of four wines aged in amphora, a practice that recalls the ancient techniques already used in the Magna Graecia and Roman eras. Highly recommended for those passionate about this world
