Description
Description
An immersion in the magic of the Archiforo Forest, one of the 40 destinations in the world noted by immunologist Quing Li for the practice of Shinrin Yoku (or "forest bathing"), a silvo-therapeutic practice of connecting with nature to regain inner well-being, the first studies of which date back to Japan in the 1970s. Among monumental beech trees and majestic white firs, along the water paths and those of stone, lies an ideal place to rediscover harmony with nature and oneself.
The forest, highly evocative, conveys a sense of serenity to the visitor, forming a deep bond with the local people, its first guardians. One of the main protagonists is precisely the white fir, an evergreen tree, tall and long-lived, capable even of surviving the last ice ages thanks to the microclimate of the beech forests. The Calabrian white fir is one of the most prized ecotypes at the European level for its morphology, growth rates, and, above all, for its demonstrated greater resistance to various adversities including acid rain. A characteristic feature is its height, so much so that in the past, between the 15th and 18th centuries, it was used as a master tree for ships. Right here lies the largest specimen in all of Europe, over 55 meters tall with a trunk circumference of 5.5 meters.
