Description

The state forest of Fossiata extends over 6,000 hectares and represents one of the most characteristic environments of Sila. Dominated by beeches and larches, once used for resin tapping and civic uses, today it is a protected area and a historical part of the Sila National Park.

The proposed route covers approximately 18 km and allows you to traverse different environments: the Cupone pine forest, the beech forest of Corvo, the white firs, and the alders of Vallone Cecita. The itinerary culminates at a panoramic point that offers an overall view of the plateau.

During the walk, it is not uncommon to observe deer, roe deer, and other wild animals. Thanks to the environmental interpretation activity of the guide, it will be possible to understand forest management, protected areas, and the interaction between species and the environment.
