What will you do
An active wildlife observation experience in Aspromonte, between Gambarie and Lake Rumia. A simple, guided route that turns the walk into an interpretation of the area, among animal tracks, signs of presence, and citizen science activities.
Start experience
Departure from the Gambarie–Laghetto Rumia area and introduction to the “roe deer trail”. The guide explains how to recognize tracks, rubbings, and signs of the passage of local wildlife, preparing the group for field observation.
Key moment
I walk along a route of about 5 km with 100 m of positive elevation gain, alternating trail sections and observation stops. During the route, data are collected through a citizen science app and the understanding of the environment and animal behavior is deepened.
Return
Return along the same route with additional moments of observation and synthesis of the traces identified. The experience concludes with a final debriefing on the work carried out and the information collected in the field.
What you need to know
Comfortable layered clothing, suitable for the season and weather
Windproof/rainproof jacket
Trekking shoes or those with a good sole (no smooth sole, no flip-flops, no heel)
Water supply of at least 1.5 L per person
Report any health issues, allergies, phobias, or reactions to stings in advance
Follow the guide's instructions for the entire duration of the excursion
Activity suitable for boys even used to walking; not suitable for strollers or prams.
The route may change or be canceled due to bad weather or safety reasons, even on the same day.
Languages: Italian (English on request with notice).
