If you choose to arrive on your own, you will receive all the useful information for the meeting about 3 days before, including location, time and supplier contact.

What will you do

A hike on Mount Cocuzzo, the symbolic peak of the Calabrian Coastal Range, among beech forests, rocky ridges and sweeping views over the Tyrrhenian Sea. A route that combines woodland, karst geology and a final 360° panorama, up to the highest summit of the massif.

Start experience

Departure from the Forest Service Casellone at 1,219 m and entry into the beech forest trails. The first sections develop in a shaded environment, with an introduction to the natural and geological context of the Coastal Range.

Key moment

The ascent continues over mixed terrain and steeper sections, crossing karst sinkholes and dolomitic rock outcrops. The forest gradually thins, giving way to an increasingly open landscape up to the ridge.

Return

Arrival at the summit at 1,541 m with wide views from the Tyrrhenian Sea to the Aeolian Islands and over the main Calabrian mountain ranges. Descent along the same route, with a finale that brings back the contrast between the panoramic ridge and the beech forest crossed on the ascent.
