Description

Monte Cocuzzo is the symbol peak of the Costiera Chain: a natural balcony where rock and forest alternate up to the ridge.

The itinerary begins at the Casellone della Forestale (1,219 m) and traverses shady beech forests, with sections on mixed terrain and steeper passages as you approach the ridge.

The ascent showcases karst sinkholes and dolomite outcrops that tell the geological history of the massif. Once out of the forest, the vegetation thins and the view gradually opens.
At the summit (1,541 m), the gaze spans from the blue of the Tyrrhenian Sea to the Aeolian Islands, up to the main Calabrian chains.

An ideal itinerary for those looking for a complete and panoramic hike; very picturesque at sunset (upon request).
