Description

Description

The Argentino Valley is a wild oasis of the Pollino National Park, characterized by gorges, woods, and unique limestone formations. In this context stands Pietra Campanara, a monolith of nearly twenty meters that, covered in moss and shrubs, dominates like a natural obelisk.

The excursion starts from the Piano di Novacco, a large grassy plateau surrounded by Monte Caramolo, Timpone della Magara, and Timpone Scifarello. From here, we proceed towards Fiumarella di Rossale, immersing ourselves among woods and clearings that lead to the heart of the route.

Continuing along a historic mule track, once a passageway for people, goods, and traditions, we gradually enter the Argentino Valley. The geological scenery, made of limestone and dolomite rocks, testifies to the power of nature and the strategic role of these places in past centuries.

The journey culminates in front of Pietra Campanara, the monolith that has guarded the valley for centuries. An experience that unites nature, history, and geology, offering a unique perspective on Pollino and its monumental landscapes.
