A hike in the heart of Pollino National Park to the legendary “Patriarca” Bosnian pine, among beech forests, sinkholes and high-altitude plateaus. A route that combines landscape, geological time and the living presence of the oldest nature of the massif.
Start experience
Departure from Colle Impiso with an initial crossing of shady beech forests and a gradual approach to the Gaudolino Plain. The surroundings gradually open up to broader and brighter landscapes.
Key moment
Passage through the Pollinello Sinkhole, a karst landscape that leads into the natural heart of the route. Here you encounter the Patriarch, the millenary Loricato Pine, a symbol of resilience and the biological memory of Pollino.
Return
Return along the same route, reading the landscape in reverse, from the high-altitude areas toward Colle Impiso. Conclude the experience with an overall view of the mountain system crossed.
