Description

Cleto, a small town on the low Tyrrhenian coast of Cosenza, is a place where time seems to have layered itself. Inhabited since the Paleolithic, it preserves a historical and cultural heritage that spans millennia, made up of stories, legends, popular tales, and traditions that are still alive.

The Middle Ages is the period that most characterizes the village, thanks to the presence of two castles: the Castle of Petramala, of Byzantine-Norman origin, and the Castle of Savuto, of Angevin origin, which watches over the river of the same name. A very rare characteristic that makes Cleto one of the few municipalities in Italy to boast two historical fortifications within the same territory.

The day unfolds at a slow pace, wandering through the alleys of the village, rock caves, churches, and historical buildings, before moving to the village of Savuto. The meeting with the agricultural soul of the territory is not lacking: Cleto boasts over 200,000 olive trees and a historic production of extra virgin olive oil, which will be the star of a guided tasting.

A complete experience that combines history, landscape, culture, and gastronomy, with the possibility of lunch or an aperitif in the affiliated establishments of the village.
