Description
Description
Within the Aspromonte Geopark, declared a UNESCO heritage site, stands Pietra Cappa, the tallest monolith in Europe. With its typical "panettone" morphology and dominating position, it is a geosite of international significance and one of the most iconic destinations in Calabria.
The hike begins near Pietra Lunga and winds through rugged and scenic landscapes. After about three hours of walking, the trail leads to the base of Pietra Cappa, where we will stop for lunch (not included, recommended as a packed meal), surrounded by an atmosphere that evokes grandeur and silence.
The return trip takes place along a different path, creating a loop that ideally embraces the monolith. Water sources are available both near the starting point and halfway along the route, supporting the hike.
This experience combines nature, geology, and spirituality: an itinerary that allows you to experience the extraordinary landscape and cultural richness of Aspromonte firsthand.
