Description

Description

An iconic itinerary of Aspromonte that leads into the wild heart of the Mundu and Galasia waterfalls, among rock walls shaped by water, misty vapors, and the tranquility of the woods. Right from the entrance, the descending path at mid-slope foreshadows the atmosphere: water gushing from the rock, scents of macchia, light filtered through the trees.

The route allows you to admire both jumps of Galasia (about 15 m and 35 m), set between ancient rocks in continuous transformation. Further downstream, the Jamundu stream feeds the Mundu waterfall (about 50 m), where splashes and falling wind amplify the experience, especially in the cooler season.

During the hike, sections through the woods, ridges, crossings, and slippery ramps are traversed; at some points, one can feel the erosive power that has sculpted channels and granite slides, now partly dry. Rare botanical presences stand out along the bed, such as Woodwardia radicans, a relic fern of ancient origin.

In the summer months (altitude ~600 m), it is possible to swim in clear water pools; in winter, the noise of the fall and the mist prevails. An outing that combines landscape, geology, and naturalism in one of the most spectacular contexts of Calabria.
