Description
The hike starts from Rocca del Drago, a scenic viewpoint that immediately offers splendid views of the Aposcipo stream, known here as Fiumara La Verde. From this point, the path winds along the uphill paved road, with wide views of Butramo and the profile of Mount Iofri.
Continuing on, the asphalt gives way to a dirt path that leads into the heart of Aspromonte. The route crosses forests of ancient oaks and spectacular ridges, until reaching the Ferraina Steps, from where the gaze embraces the wild landscapes of the super reserve.
During the journey, unique glimpses open up onto the Ferraina waterfalls and the Puntone Galera, characterized by a rocky ridge that can be traversed in an amphitheater formation. For the more experienced, it is possible to tackle a short exposed stretch that leads up to the summit, marked by a wooden cross.
The return takes place along an ancient path carved into the rock, where natural water springs are present. An itinerary that combines landscape, nature, and a touch of adventure, suitable for those who wish to experience Aspromonte in all its essence.
