Description

The itinerary includes a first stop near the Mulino di Foculìu, where the rocky bed of the Amendolea stream will offer us the opportunity to cool off in its crystalline waters. After this refreshing break, we will resume our journey until we reach, around lunchtime, the abandoned village of Roghudi Vecchio. Lunch is not included: it is recommended to bring a packed meal to consume on site.

The afternoon will be dedicated to visiting the village and exploring its ruins. Here, the silence of the abandoned houses intertwines with legends and mythological tales. Perched on a rocky promontory above the Amendolea river, Roghudi Vecchio (from the Greek Rochùdios, “cliff”) was inhabited from 1050 until the disastrous events of 1971 and 1973 that led to its abandonment.

The stories of the place speak of the Rocca du Dr{
