Description

The itinerary takes place entirely on a mountain trail with gentle slopes, ideal for a refreshing outing while being accessible. Among pine forests, rocky outcrops, and clearings, one reaches the wide viewpoint of Monte Tre Pizzi, a privileged observation point over the Aspromonte. After the packed lunch break, we return along the same path to the starting point.

Monte Tre Pizzi is one of the wonders of Aspromonte: a rock formation with a characteristic triple rounded peak, offering ever-new vistas along the approach. The area is a site of community importance (SIC) for its floristic, faunistic, and geomorphological value: a mosaic of habitats to observe with respect.

At altitude, there are the ruins of an ancient place of worship, adding an almost mystical note to the landscape: not just a panorama, but memory and spirituality that narrate the choice of monks to dwell in places capable of nurturing the spirit. The mountain is also linked to popular legends.

One of these stories tells that Jesus and the Apostles were walking along the river “'a Principissa” when, suddenly, Saint Peter began to complain about not having a monument in his own honor. Struck by a sudden idea, he grabbed a stone from the riverbank and threw it up high: the stone then gave rise to the rock.
